Great South-Merzouga-Desert Erg Chebbi

Day 1

Marrakech-Ait Ben Haddou-Ouarzazate

Departure from Marrakech at 8 am to cross Tizi n'Tichka and theHigh Atlas (2260 m altitude). We will stop to enjoy the landscape and visit the Argon oil cooperative. After eating at a local restaurant, we will spend the afternoon sightseeingAit Ben Haddou, UNESCO world heritage site. We will go to Ouarzazate for dinner and stay overnight in a typical hotel.

Day 2

Ouarzazate–Draa valley - Merzouga

After the morning visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, we will head along the panoramic road that runs along the Djebel Sagrhro mountain range, descending towards the oases and kasbahs of theDraa valley, and following the Draa, Morocco's largest river, into the desert. Before reaching Merzouga we will pass through numerous Berber villages, including Agdz and N'kob, where we will stop to eat in a local restaurant. We will stay in a desert hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Merzouga–Khamlia–Rissani–Erg Chebbi desert 

Today we will travel to the desert. We will take a circuit through the desert dunes, giving you the opportunity to see the lifestyle of the nomads, as well as the impressive and changing contrasts of the desert. We will go to the “black city” of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians. In the ancient capital ofRissani, we will have lunch with the typical Berber pizza. After eating we will visit the traditional markets. We will return to the hotel in the afternoon to prepare for our camel ride. We will ride camels for 90 minutes to the desert camp as the sun sets over the sand dunes of theErg Chebbi, while we observe the stars and the crescent moon in the incredible desert, we will have dinner with a typical tagine and a delicious mint tea. We will spend the night, as is customary, in a nomadic tent.

Day 4

Erg Chebbi–Todra and Dades Gorges

We will rise early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara dunes before returning to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. After breakfast we will fly atTodra Gorges via Erfoud, which is located behind the High Atlas Mountains. Before heading through the picturesque river valleys towards theDades Gorges, we will take a short excursion to the imposing Todra gorges. In the afternoon we will take a walk through the Dades Gorges. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel are included.

Day 5

Dades Gorges–Telouet–Marrakech

In the morning we will take a walk through the gorges, following the Dades valley through El Kelaa Magona and the Skoura oasis. We will descend the High Atlas Mountains after lunch in Ouarzazate to visit Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will leave in the early afternoon for Marrakech
